Link TV is the nations largest independent broadcaster, devoted to providing diverse global perspectives on news, current events and world culture not typically available on other U.S. networks. Link TV regularly airs a robust selection of award-winning films and documentaries that explore the human condition from different multi-cultural perspectives. Through its “Cinemondo” series, Link supports the essential cultural role of world cinema by helping Americans better understand what is happening in the world.

A pioneer in news and current affairs programming, Link TV has been recognized domestically and internationally for its original news programs including the Peabody Award-winning daily broadcast “Mosaic: News from the Middle East,” which monitors and airs unedited selections of news reports from more than 30 Middle-Eastern broadcasters, and “Global Pulse,” which compares and contrasts news reports from around the world on critical issues. Link also offers its viewers original, innovative participatory programs promoting national and global citizen action. Most of Links programs are available nowhere else on American television.

The belief systems of many of our global neighbors lie beyond the purview of formalized religion, yet they have guided mankind through many millennia with highly evolved principles and philosophies. In August of 2005, the cover of Newsweek magazine announced the rise of spirituality in America. The issue explores how and why many Americans choose to seek spiritual experiences outside the norms of traditional church, mosque or synagogue settings. A poll conducted by Newsweek and Beliefnet found that new forms of religious experience and expression attract many Americans each year. The poll also found that 79% of those polled described themselves as “spiritual,” and 70% of those polled said it was very important to them to practice their religion in order to find happiness and peace of mind. “Global Spirit” explores the emerging longing in the American psyche to explore the depths of human consciousness and the many faces of spirituality.

“Global Spirit” premieres on Sunday, April 12 at 6:00pm PT/9:00pm ET with its first original program “The Spiritual Quest,” featuring acclaimed comparative religion author Karen Armstrong and professor of Buddhist studies Dr. Robert Thurman. Each week through June 14, “Global Spirit” will present the U.S. television premiere of a new program probing the trans-cultural dynamics of human inquiry. Link TV is available on DIRECTV channel 375 and Dish Network channel 9410 and on select cable stations. Programs will also be streamed in their entirety at LinkTV.org/GlobalSpirit.

HealthMedia Applauds Mental Health Parity Bill

October 8th, 2008

With the passage of Mental Health Parity legislation, health plans and self-insured employers will be required to offer the same level of coverage for mental health as they provide for physical health. HealthMedia is advising health plans and self-insured employers to respond to the mandate by implementing safe, cost-effective, scalable, confidential options for treatment — given a critical shortage of clinicians.

Dr. Bedrosian stated that poor mental health significantly affects productivity, increases healthcare costs, and is co-morbid with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. “And with the stigma associated with mental health, it is vital for organizations to deploy solutions that are confidential and easily accessible at any time,” he said. “By combining our tailored interventions with intelligent recruitment strategies, we can work with organizations to ensure the highest level of participation within any population.”

Ann Arbor, Mich. (PRWEB) October 8, 2008 — HealthMedia, Inc. the pioneer in applying advanced technology to emulate a health coaching session via the Web - without the coach - for wellness, disease management, behavioral health, medication adherence, and aging well, applauds the passage of the landmark mental health parity bill last week. This new legislation mandates that health plans and self-insured employers offer the same level of coverage for mental health as they provide for physical health. The company is advising health plans and self-insured employers to respond to the mandate by implementing safe, cost-effective, scalable, confidential options for treatment.

October 8th, 2008

Starfish and Virgin Megastores are celebrating the donor model launch with “Generation: HOPE” an exhibit of photographs taken by children who, with the use of Digital Blue cameras, took photos of people and things in their lives that represented hope. The exhibit, which will be shown at NYCs Union Square Virgin Megastore on October 7th, helps connect donors and potential donors with the children who will be supported by their donations. Virgin Megastores have been heavily involved with the Starfish Foundation over the past couple of years. In 2007, the Megastores team raised the appropriate monies to procure, ship, and retrofit a shipping container that now serves as the after school awareness center for the children. This year, they worked closely with their primary electronics vendor; D&H Distributing, to procure the 200 Digital Blue cameras used for the exhibit photos. The exhibit will then travel to London in November.

According to a recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the Commission on Social Determinants of Health, improving daily living conditions is the number one way to improve global health. This includes placing an emphasis on early childhood development and education, improving living and working conditions and creating supportive social protection - all areas in which Starfish is working.

“With a larger competitive landscape, charities must differentiate themselves and listen to what their donors want,” says Cynthia Schweer, CEO of Starfish USA. “The donation model has shifted from charities telling their supporters what they need, to charities listening to their supporters and asking them how they would like to be involved.”

Animal Rights Group Schedules Second UC Press Conference in Sacramento

October 8th, 2008

Animal rights activists have requested a meeting with the Chancellor of the University of California, Larry N. Vanderhoef, in hopes of negotiating substantial changes for the UC Davis laboratories. Spokesman Michael Budkie of Stop Animal experimentation Now (S.A.E.N.) says The health and well-being of the approximately 4500 primates who are confined at the University of California, Davis are a serious concern. A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m.

Their space is severely limited, such that a 33 55 pound primate lives in a space of 8 square feet. This is like a 165 pound human spending their entire life in a space that is 3 feet by 8 feet. These cages are made of stainless steel, containing at most a perch and a stuffed toy, Budkie said.

Wednesdays press conference will introduce a former UC Davis employee/animal caretaker who is coming forward to explain the conditions at the UC Davis labs. S.A.E.N. will present Chancellor Vanderhoef with a request for mitigation which will include:

4. Immediate elimination of the use of primate restraint chairs, paralytic drugs, and water deprivation as a part of all UC Davis experimental protocols.

October 7th, 2008

Says Newkirk, The goal of this book is to help people who, like me, want to make the most out of not only the special occasions, but the everyday parts of their lives, even their chores. It is meant to provide positive change opportunities that will enhance our lives in ways generations before us were denied. AIDS: The Perfect" Disease

October 7th, 2008

In this book, Jerry Leonard reveals that the cancer epidemic induced by the monkey virus that causes AIDS is not only highly beneficial but contrived as well–being the culmination of years of experiments by cancer researchers in manipulating viruses to selectively destroy the immune system and create a model form of human cancer. The author proposes that progress made with cross-species immunosuppressive viruses was used to supplement an ongoing line of published cancer vaccine research in which monkey cancer viruses were used to induce tumors in human subjects. A case is made that these human cancer vaccine experiments were smaller-scale versions of a diabolical experiment that resulted in the useful epidemic of AIDS-induced cancers—-an epidemic that many researchers predict will lead scientists to develop human cancer vaccines.

- In the early 1980s, an epidemic of rare sarcomas began in human populations suddenly infected with a mysterious immunosuppressive virus. This virus (HIV) was traced to a monkey virus similar to those grown in human cell cultures by cancer researchers just prior to the AIDS epidemic.

- Throughout the 1950s researchers injected human subjects with transplanted cancer cells to see if human tumors were transmissible.” They were.[1]

- In the late 1970s, researchers mixed these same monkey sarcoma viruses with newly cultured monkey immunosuppressive viruses to see if they would grow in human cell cultures. They did.[3]

Informed action is imperative. Such experiments must be exposed and halted, now.
